Lost in collaboration meeting
Post Body

I am a first year graduate student at a big institution. I have joined the group of a high-profile professor who is a key member in a large collaboration. This is my first time attending a collaboration meeting and I feel extremely lost and demotivated. My adviser is attending too but he has kept his interaction with me at a minimum and while I was hoping to get introduced to other collaboration members, that hasn't happened. I am having lunch and dinner on my own since I do not know anyone and I do not feel like I belong here. Has anyone had similar experiences and if so, how did you deal with it?
