Hello all š
Iām the owner of the aforementioned high-rise penthouse, which is located in Las Vegas, NV.
Approximately 10-years ago 5050smd LED RGB strip lights were on the bleeding edge. My designer insisted I install ārope lightsā but I overrode his decision and opted for the RGB strip lights due to their color changing and visual effect features.
Fast forward to today. Govee now produces fantastic RGBIC where I can connect the entire penthouseās light strips wirelessly. My original light strips are also losing nodes, are dimming in lumens, and donāt match when theyāre on, so itās time for a change.
Iām posting here to you all for advice on ensuring I do this replacement properly and also to get ideas from you to further enhance the installās experience.
As of right now I have about 2 dozen 16ft strips installed. They are 5050smd with 60 LEDs per strip (vs the standard 30). I plan to replace them all with Govee RGBIC, as I believe this will allow me to control the effects wirelessly and sync the patterns together.
Am I right in my thinking here? My goal is to be able to do advanced effects, such as pulsating, sound/music reaction. Mainly, the ability to sync them all in a color and have the patterns match. I may also be possibly light shows such as chasing effects, but frankly itās not a big deal.
Here are some of my questions:
ā¢ I see that there is a basic RGBIC and a pro RGBIC version. Is there one with 60 LEDs? ā¢ Are there a Bluetooth and wifi models? Which one is better? ā¢ I see various models of these strip lights, such as the M1. Am I correct in assuming this model wonāt meet my needs? ā¢ Can you tell me more about how Alexa works? Is it per strip or do I create a group in the app? ā¢ Iād love to hear about your ideas for automations and other fun things.
I also plan on adding diffusers to the strips so they stay in place better than my original install.
