Does anybody go out for walks during the witching hour? If so how do you remain safe

Im 24f and I would LOVE to go out for walks during the witching hour (3am- 4am) but in kinda nervous especially being female. Is there anybody else that's female who does this ?
Maybe I should just carry mace with me ? Or a pocket knife.
