In the past, my 4XL has always charged rapidly to 80%, then charged slowly to 100% (about 2 h), usually finishing in 3-4 h total and far ahead of the alarm time set. Since I am retired, and don't use the phone as my alarm even when I use an alarm, the charging alarm is set for a while after I am normally up.
After A12 update, I noticed the phone was only charged to about 85% two hours before the alarm. Today, I noticed it was charged to 86% two hours before the alarm, 97% one hour before the alarm, and only reached 100% maybe 15 minutes before the alarm. (These are the times I looked at it, I wasn't watching it continuously.)
Anybody else having similar results? Is this an announced change? It is more like most of us expected "adaptive charging" to work based on Google's original description, so I guess it is good. It is just a change, but I apparently need to change my alarm time strategy.
