(Edited since Pixel 6 reveal) (Edited since Pixel 6A leak)
Google is upping their premium game again, which is great. BUT, there have been complaints about the larger screen sizes for the upcoming phones. The sizes have almost turned me off completely.
Enter Pixel 6A. If Google is changing their hardware for the 6, they have to bring it some of it to the 6A.
The 6A will use Tensor, even if it's a weaker version that their flagship. Having that powerful of a chip, with most to all of the software features, on a mid-range phone is quite compelling.
The 6A may finally be the first Pixel mid-ranger to have 90Hz.
If they could do that in a smaller, lighter 6 inch phone, have an all day battery, and keep the price around $400 - $450, how cool would that be? The P5 has dropped to $449, so the 6A would have to be around that price or cheaper, right?
What could be missing from the base 6: 1. Wireless charging 2. Higher refresh rate 3. Premium materials (made of plastic) 4. Less RAM (6GB instead of 8) 5. The haptics of the 6
