8.1 removed option to add custom ringtones and notifications?

Since updating to 8.1 I have lost the option to add my own custom tones in the sound app, and what's worse it doesn't populate with ones in the ringtones or notifications folders. I tried opening the chooser with Solid Explorer instead but when I picked the ringtone it just says "None". Any ideas?
EDIT: It seems just removing the files then reinserting them fixed the issue. False alarm!
