We have been pretty lucky to have the hard work of Benson Leung and /u/Nathan-K to help us make sure we don't destroy our devices by simply using a bad cable and/or charger. Obviously our transition to USB-C has come with a variety of growing pains, but USB-IF has not done enough for consumers. Yes it is great that they introduced the USB-IF Compliance / Certification program, but the results are not consumer friendly. I had to click on numerous links (and a PDF) just to get to the Product Search page, and then find out you can't search for USB-C compliant cables and chargers, instead they provide lists via PDF.
- USB-C Chargers
- USB-C Cables (Also updated as of 11/1/16)
This is a step in the right direction, however USB-IF needs to create a better system for consumers to check if cables and chargers are certified.
There are a couple hundred cables on that list which is great. However the ONLY USB-C Certified chargers are the Verizon chargers for the Pixel. How is this possible? Is it that USB-IF has a backlog or is it that manufacturers don't care to get their chargers certified as much as they do their cables?
