Is any kind of crack on your screen the biggest fucking loophole for cell phones companies to pay for ANYTHING? I have a Pixel 7a that has a pretty well documented issue with its screen going completely black either permanently or intermittently. This happened to me.
As I’m going through the Tech chat at the very end after stating that the phone is under warranty, and this issue existed, the agent asked if there was any damage to the screen. I mention there is a banged up corner from a drop that happened literally three days after I got the phone, but it has operated fine.
Immediately “I’m sorry sir but the damage to the screen is the cause of your screen malfunctioning, we will be happy to service your phone out of warranty for $210.” Excuse me???!!! We just spent the last hour identifying an issue in my phone that has been committed all over your message boards as a big problem, and now the fact that I dropped it two months ago negates any liability on your part?!?
HORSE SHIT.
I spoke to a second agent the next day and she agreed and issued an RMA and Instructed me to send it directly to google to fix this right away.
Upon receipt of the phone. We will be happy to replace the screen for you for the price of $210 and we will return it to you in 4 to 6 days!!
I don’t really have anything more than a rant and I really can’t believe it’s that simple to balk any ownership in a defect you yourself acknowledged!
End rant…
