Today the Google Photos app suddenly made a new backup of 7000 pictures out of nowhere which resulted in photos not being at the correct date (one or two days apart, i.e. 5th of December appears on 4th of December) and even some missing pictures. This is on my Pixel 6, but when I check it online on the website everything is good and the missing photos even show up. have Google One if that matters.
So my questions are: is the website version correct or is it the app? If my app is incorrect, how can fix it without losing those pictures?
I have searched up about clearing the cache could solve the issue, but what exactly does this do?
Thanks for the comment. Will leave it on charge overnight and if it hasn't changed by tomorrow, I'll contact Google One help to see if they have a possible solution
I don't use Android 14 beta. Waiting for the official release

Yeah, it fixed itself overnight. Missing photos were back and everything was at the right date again.
