O I decided to switch from T mobile to Google fi. With that I also wanted to switch from iPhone to Samsung. I spent 1600 on the Samsung fold 5 and when I set up my google fi it doesn't work. My app says your good to go in japan and everything checks out. I do not have service. When talking to a rep at google fi they told me that my error code meant my phone is locked. I tried telling them multiple times that my phone is not locked. I bought it brand new with cash unlocked I even put my iPhone t mobile chip in the Samsung and boom it worked. (I bought the phone from AU). I asked to speak to another rep and they also told me that my phone is locked so that day I decided to go to AU and ask and they said my phone indeed in unlocked and showed me that it was. So I called googlefi for the 3rd time and examined everything to them. I gave that SAME error code to the new rep and he told me there is a outage in japan currently. That was 10 days ago. I think it's time to start looking for another company because 10 days is insane. Does anybody have any advice or know any other carriers that are decent in japan that aren't 150$ a month like t mobile?!?!?!
Edit: I did indeed get verified through sheerID and also Uninstalled esim and reinstalled. I've turned airplane mode off and on after 5 minutes like the rep asked. I restarted the phone. I've deleted and re-download googlefi. I did all these things the rep asked just for them to say there is a outage. The whole process was fucking insane
Also before you say I can't start googlefi over seas you are wrong. I have many friends who have done it. The omly exception is that you prove through sheerID that you are military by submitting the proper documents which I have done
