Need Help Creating a calculated field with dates

I have a bit of an issue figuring out how to get a count of current travelers. I have a date filter at the top which is often set at today's date, and a trip departure date. There's also a trip duration (and I've also created a trip end date for ease in this scenario).
Basically what I'd like is a scorecard inserted that shows current travelers - where the date filter is between the trip start date and the trip end date (inclusive). Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks!
