Hello out there!
I don't see an episode discussion post for the past two episodes or I would comment there, but I am just so excited about how beautiful E5 of this season is.
First of all, the Dennis and Isabella story. I wasn't too impressed with the baby basics class that Gael and Isabella went to - class frustrated soon-to-be parents feeling out of their depth, yeah yeah. We get it. But the way that Dennis' loss of Jacob ties in with Isabella's whole pregnancy arc is really beautiful. I'm glad they are not just dropping Dennis' grief as if he got over it once and for all. Of course he didn't. That's not something you get over and never think about again. I am really touched by the relationship forming between Isabella and Dennis. I would rather they not make it romantic and then churn up a bunch of drama about it because I find that boring (the drama - it actually seems like they could be a good couple, but I love them as good friends too). But they have this really sweet connection and I'm happy to get more screen time.
In general, I feel that Isabella's pregnancy story is more meaningful lately - for example that scene where Yuri grabs her belly with his face (ew) without asking - such a classic pregnant woman experience that they are highlighting there. They didn't even need to talk about it directly to show how uncomfortable it was.
I also am so impressed with how Mariana's arc is unfolding. They are really showing some deep emotion with her situation. It isn't just surface level like so many of her story lines, even the one's that are supposed to have a "big impact." Seeing her cry at the end and admit to Evan that she's not alright was both moving and relieving after all she's been through. Girl is stuck in a super awful situation and of course she feels stressed and alone.
I am glad to see Good Trouble having more depth of feeling. If anything I am relieved Callie is gone because it gives more time for these other story lines. I liked her last trial arc but it never really went anywhere and the on-and-off thing with Jamie get old (I would rather have seen them together working things out, and her last go with Gael was so unnecessary).
Oh, also - Lucas! I like his character and am looking forward to what happens with him. I think Joaquin is being super dumb about not just telling the housemates, "Yo, my friend will be staying here while I'm out of town." Literally no one would care. He's so untrustworthy of them.
I think the show is getting better and it's sad to think it may be canceled due to Maia leaving. I think it has more potential now than ever.
Please keep comments respectful and not spoiling of the following episode to this one, at least without hiding it!
