It's Crimson City Sunday!

For a good while, I’ve wanted to make something cyberpunk. I've also wanted to make a ‘choose your own adventure’ scenario. After one was posted recently, it made me want to do it just a bit more. The other day, I was listening to a dark synthwave mix, and this was born. Time to kill two augmented birds with one EMP grenade.

When I get an idea, I run. I’m a dog chasing cars. This car just so happens to be dark, augmented, and filled with choices that will change how your story ends.

This adventure will be posted one script at a time--all depending on what decisions you, the readers and listeners, choose. If you have a choice, simply comment with the decision, or the path number in the web (For this script, it is path 1A, or 1B). We'll rewind if that's what people want. :)

Think renegade and paragon from Mass Effect. Make enough of one decision, you just might have only renegade options to choose from. You could be the hero, the realist, an opportunist, or many many more. Unlike Mass Effect, your ending will differ greatly.

The real question is - in a place like Crimson City, how do you know which path is the correct one?

You don't.

What is Crimson City?

Crimson City is a gritty metropolis in a cyberpunk setting. There are various criminal factions within it, and the most dangerous and sought-after criminals are called the Shadow Tide. They have their fingers in every pie, their eyes in every scene, and moles in every precinct.

You (the listener) are a detective of the one militant forces protecting the people, called The Vanguard, that work alongside the law-keepers, The Red Seven.

The Set-up

You arrive first to a gruesome murder scene. The one murdered—killed via his own methods—is The Artist, one of the acclaimed underbosses of the Shadow Tide, and the only one whose identity was known. His identity was given to the Vanguard 24 hours ago in exchange for information about the Shade, the boss of the Shadow Tide. Now your last lead lies dead before you and your partner.

It’s been ages since you two have gotten some time alone, and while the scene is gruesome, you collect the evidence and then get busy in the car while you wait for a decryption. However, after the terminal you recovered from the scene decrypts, it reveals something unheard of - a meeting with multiple Shadow Tide underbosses happening within the hour.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN.

Your Choice

You call the Head Vanguard, and she tells you that help is on the way—but it will take time to respond properly with backup for this much criminal heat. The docks are extremely dangerous to approach alone, but this could be time sensitive.

Will you choose to wait for back-up, or will you and your partner try to move in alone?

As scripts are created and posted, this map will update. Blue bubbles represent more paragon decisions. Red represent renegade decisions. Purple denotes more neutral decisions.

Grey means you haven't discovered that decision yet. Time will tell. If this series becomes popular enough, perhaps the entire map will be filled out one day...just know that I already have the entire story mapped out for you, ready for any path you choose to take.
