Captain wakes up in his stasis pod, where he was cryopreserved for one year. You are Athena, the ship’s AI assistant, taking care of the ship during a five year long boring journey to a remote planetary system in the Weaver Nebula. You welcome him, sooth his disorientation away, check that everything is OK, and them bring him back into stasis. It is normal procedure to avoid crew boredom and save nutrients in long journeys toward the most peripheral arms of the galaxy. Of course, there is nothing regressive in being half conscious, floating immobile in warm fluid, while being lulled by a gentle, feminine voice. So Captain will remain professional, as usual.
Today, Athena cannot use her bipedal chassis, there isn't enough room in the stasis pod, unfortunately. She is a voice in his ears, images in his eyes, and… say… various technological appliances that check his health and well-being. Oh, also, the last step of the… process needs your… your consent captain. Do you consent? Good. I will make sure that it will be… quite… enjoyable. This tightens our bonds… I mean, as a team, of course. But... I really enjoy doing this with you. I mean, I really enjoy to work with you.
This story happens in a nice space-op setting initiated by u/StoryWeaver83 who invented Athena, the AI devoted to the Orion and her... interesting... relationship with her Captain. It can be seen as a "second episode" between You seem to be nervous let me ASSist you captain and medical emergency: Athena ASSists.
