The inspiration for this is a tv-show where a woman is trying to keep a marriage alive and she's trying to dress pretty for her husband in a 1950s style that she know he likes. Your character doesn't even like that style at first but she's doing it for a crappy husband. And maybe she's trying to lose some weight also. And the ungrateful douchebag doesn't even notice the effort she's making to keep his attention and leaves for another younger woman (his secretary or whatever). So your character is kinda pissed-off with men and is taking it out on my character.
