In a brief departure from form, I'd like to share something about myself.

I have HIV.

I was diagnosed in mid June of 2021, and, while the early moments were very stressful, my story with HIV has been a rather peaceful one. My medication took very quickly, and within 2 months I had hit undetectable levels, meaning I could not pass the disease on to another via sex. Despite this, I've dealt with my fair share of the stigmatization that often follows those with a Positive diagnosis. Stigma that, before I got mine, I'm ashamed to say I also exacerbated. As I've explored and become a larger part of the GWA community, I decided I wanted to use that to share my story and help spread awareness of the disease and how far it has come since the Crisis of the 80s and 90s.

I also wanted to create an audio for others like me, especially those struggling with their sexual confidence following their diagnosis. To those of you who are, take it from someone else who lives with it: You are not lesser for having it. HIV does not define your life, you do. There will be those who, in their ignorance, will be unkind to you, but there are others, many of them, who are aware of the ways care for the disease has evolved, and who know that you are just as much a valid person as anyone else.

Synopsis:

You've been dragged to a local bar by your friends, despire your inital reticence. As you sit at the bar nursing your drink, you find yourself making eyes with another patron for nearly an hour. Nervous as a result of your diagnosis, you haven't approached him. However, after a few more minutes of eye fucking, he decides to approach you, unaware of your condition. Luckily, he's not particulalry bothered by it. As always, I hope you enjoy listening to this as much as I enjoyed making it
