Weird noise from the steering column area

2015 GTI, noise just started last night. It sounds like it’s by the steering column/above the gas pedal. Can’t make it to the shop until next week but wondering if you guys have any ideas? It’s not constant, but it makes this noise for about 15 seconds then stops for 2 minutes or so then repeats.
