Thoughts on Stafford Beers?

While I get he worked for Allende and Cybernetics /Operational Research probably has been used for control mechanisms in the West, his ideas are descriptive and not prescriptive. The only thing he said that could be negative is that the free market is good but we must go beyond that. Personally I take that as a a call for open systems. But even more than that I like the idea using general systems theory to work towards better voluntary systems. What say you?
