I would honestly say Feds. Sure the state government has been boneheaded in some regards, but it runs a balanced budget, for what you pay get decent services (and not to fund stupid shit), they respect gun right, are on the road to legalizing marijuana, even if tepidly, have record unemployment, decriminalized polygamy, don't overly spend on indocr.. I mean schooling, could have done better on the whole covid issue but was not the worst state, have moved to remove police quotas and legalized raw milk, zoning in many areas are liberal, they have been pretty decent on the 4th amendment, and overall I have been able to improve my lot in life immensely since moving to Utah. The only complaint I have so far is the state alcohol laws. Also gambling laws are a bit dumb, but I am not a gambler so much so I am not as worried about that. I will say the porn filter thing is a bit worrisome, but has not gone into effect until other states do, which I find moronic honestly.
Now if I contrast that with the federal government, I almost feel like Utah (and some other western states) would be better off as their own countries because the culture is so different. If Utah were it's own country I probably would not worry about half the issues I care about. Honestly if the US government were more like Utah it would not be perfect, but at least it would be closer to a night watchman state that what we have now.
Someone had posted a fire your local government, and I agree for the most part, but it did get me thinking and reminded me of how I felt overall and honestly most the ill will I have towards society in genera is from federal BS, not state stuff. How about you? Are most the issues you have federal or state wide in nature?
