Honestly that is kind of scary. In a world that has offered choices it is scary that many of the formerly freest countries (Hong Kong, Chile, Australia, Singapore, and others) have lost their shine or have shown a blind spot with Covid. It worries me that if I do want to be a perpetual traveler that this is just the start of a very bad trend. Also there have been some that held strong (like many countries in Eastern Europe), only to impose restrictions later. It is scary that the US, even as it screws things up is still much freer in many regards. In that regard, many that did not given in to speech mandates or to the War on Terrorism BS have. It seems like Mexico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and North Macedonia are some of the only countries that did not feed into this. It will make for interesting research in terms of what countries to keep on my to visit list and which ones to kick off. Stay safe friends.
