Temporary relocation to Madrid
Post Body

Hello. I've been going through some hard times recently and I feel like I need a change of scenery. I'm considering temporarily relocating to Madrid for a few months to sort of reset my brain. I primarily need a mental boost and I always found Spanish culture/vibe to be very healing in that regards, plus I have a thing for Madrid and it's been one of my favourite cities for a while, hence the choice of "destination". Obviously, it's a bit of a bold move so there are some practicalities which I hope you could help with.

a) First of all, I would need to live somewhere. Since my initial aim is to make this under 3 months (to avoid the red tape), I'm probably not looking for a regular apartment rental and I also don't want to be an ugly tourist who takes regular apartments away from the market via Airbnb, etc. I'm wondering whether any of you can recommend something like an aparthotel, or extended stay properties which are designed for this purpose.

b) I had an idea of learning Spanish in my mind for a while (mostly for cultural reasons) and this could be a good opportunity to finally do it as I'd also have the opportunity to practice and be exposed to the language. My problem is that my schedule will probably require me to travel away few times (5-10 days, usually) so I'm not sure a regular language school may not be easy. Any idea how to approach this? Maybe some good private lecutres that are flexible with the schedule?

c) I'm self-sufficient, but nevertheless I feel like it would be a good thing to do some work. I'm an EU citizen, so legally it's not a problem. I'm just wondering whether there's anything non-qualified I could do if I don't speak Spanish? This is entirely optional, my stay doesn't depend on it, and it's not about money for me, I'm just trying to not spend months without a purpose. Could be anything from volunteering to doing some simple part time job that would make me feel useful :) Just brainstorming here...

Thank you for any advice :)
