I will be going to Spain in a few weeks to process my Digital Nomad Visa application and I am a bit worried about all the anti-tourist/anti-digital nomad sentiments going on in the country. I am from a 3rd world country and just happened to be lucky enough in freelancing to be able to meet the minimum income requirement for the DNV. I know my income can go farther here in my country than in Spain, but I have always wanted to experience living abroad and have never really had an opportunity until now since I am just a college dropout. I just have to take this opportunity now so I don't have any what-ifs later in life. Plus, being from a former Spanish colony, I can get the fast track citizenship after 2 years.
It just worries me quite a lot that I might possibly be taking something away from the locals or will be contributing to the current problem. I know that it's possible that I am only seeing/hearing the vocal minority when seeing all these posts online or reading all these news articles. But I guess I want to hear from other people here who are in the same boat. How has it been for you so far?
I will also be staying in Airbnbs most of the time while processing the visa since staying in hotels mean I won't have a kitchen and would have to eat out all the time. I'm afraid I don't really have the tech bro income to sustain that for several weeks. Am I doing something terrible here?
Regardless of everything, I am still looking forward to being in Spain. I am already taking A1 classes in preparation and I am having fun learning the language. Any tips or advice are welcome! Gracias :D
Edit: Thank you all for your comments, appreciate it! :)
