I’m planning on going for residencia next January in Gran Canaria via a non-lucrative visa, I’m finding some contradictory info. Firstly, I see on the UK HMRC site that after 5 years you won’t be granted permanency if you’ve been out of Spain more than 10 months in total in that 5 years. I have a state pension and job in England, so I was planning 8 months in GC and four months working in England. I don’t need to work remotely, but am paid every month. Any thoughts? Also I can’t determine if I can just be taxed in UK or if I get taxed in both as being a Spanish resident and then claim back under the reciprocal agreement. My wife will come too, not a pensioner but otherwise the same, we both meet the financial rules and already have a permanent rental there, would it be easier for her to get her Irish passport? In theory she could stay as long as she wants without working? We would both get private medical too.
