Hola, amigos

I'm a foreigner moving to Spain and a I have little question. Something I'm having a hard time with.

Many years ago when I moved to France and I was looking for an apartment, visiting many of them through ads but not finding many that matched what I was looking for and never reaching a contract for those that did, some French friends gave me a golden advice: they told me not to contact the ads and visit the apartments but to, instead, publish my own ad of "expression of interest" as a potential renter. In other words, I made ads describing who I was ("young student with local work contract, single, not a smoker, no pets, etc") and describing exactly what I was looking for ("a 2 bedroom apartment in district X in the vicinity of the university, with central heating etc etc") and my conditions ("up to a maximum 800 Euros/month; I can sign for at least a year and provide a 3 months deposit and add a guarantor to the contract etc"). That advice turned out be a real game changer! Instead of spending so many days taking the time to visit dozens of apartments and never reaching anything, I then became the one receiving the calls and pretty much all apartments were within my range of interest. I quickly signed contracts. I used this tip more than once in my years living in France and it was always smooth and successful, completely different from my usual house-hunting procedures looking at real estate ads and contacting agents and owners for god knows how many visits and awkward conversations.

Anywho, now that I am moving to Spain I was thinking about doing the same. But.... I can't seem to find a single ads website, digital platform or even newspaper where I could post an ad as described. When I go to real estate websites or general ads websites they always give me the option to post an ad as the person selling or renting an apartment (owner or agent), but never as the interested part looking for one, as described. So I would like to ask you local folks if there is a way I could do that, and where (other than Facebook).

Gracias por vuestra atención!
