Theory on what led to the ending.

Post Body

Hey, I’ve seen people talking about fate & prophecy & when it was broken. I honestly believe that the moment fate was truly broken & ensured Kratos wouldn’t die was at the very end during the Asgard war.

“Close Your Heart”

Those are words that Kratos has always said, stood by and relied on even to the point of teaching Atreus about it. Yes he was happy his son was compassionate but he himself was reluctant to be so & I believe that is why they were following the prophecy almost to a T.

Even before the war started Kratos said “wars are won by people willing to sacrifice everything” and “Close your heart”

However, once it was shown that Odin was using the Midgardians as fodder & Atreus was willing to sacrifice them Kratos realized he was entirely wrong and was going about it the wrong way. That’s when he says the words that completely broke fate & turned the tides in his favor.

“Open your heart”

Those words alone had Kratos embrace the compassionate nature of both Faye, his son & the affect it had on him & I believe that TRULY changed his nature for the better.

Yeah he was trying to be better (and was) for his son’s sake & trying to avoid war but I don’t think he truly knew what that meant until he had the dreams with Faye & realized that closing your heart is really what he’s been doing since even the trilogy days.

That’s my theory, what do you guys think?
