I joined this subreddit just to talk about this episode/movie and was dismayed there wasn't a thread. So, I had to create one! I've a fairly new fan of the show and not especially a connoisseur of Christian films. I do love a movie with a good romance plot and started Redeeming Love on a whim the other day. Started watching while doing something else and within like 20 minutes, was so gobsmacked by the plot I had to sit down to watch. Realized shortly after it was a Christian film and was delighted to discover GAM had an episode about it. Their reactions, including Cara's incredibly well-placed dismay were spot on! It's a terrible movie with one really good actress and so much bad!
There is one thing, though, I think they missed. I'm fairly confident the Black man in the crowd in the final scenes is supposed to be Jesus, if not a manifestation of God's love or something along those lines. She accepted God, prayed, gave witness (as it were) and the guy stepped forward to help. Then, when she and the girls were safe, he stepped away.
Deeply curious if anyone else watched the movie and thought the same!
