Question about thumb injury, first time injuring it

I injured my thumb today making a save, I had my hands in a poor position and the ball hit the top of my thumb and really did a number on it. The thumb itself isn't too swollen, but my knuckle is and its s little black and blue, but I can move it just a little so I think it's just sprained not broken. This is my first time injuring my thumb so I was wondering how long this will be effecting me and how to speed up the recovery. I have a league final in one week and Id hate to miss it.
