Do we need to reserve RV sites in Atlantic Canada in September?

MY GF and I are planning our first road trip in our new (2nd hand) camper van (Class B) from Toronto to Quebec City, NB, PEI, NS and back through MN, NH, VT, ON.
We are hoping to be flexible and stay longer if we like a spot and move on if the weather is not looking good.
I've heard sites can get quire busy in the summer and reservations are best but we were hoping that would not be the case in Sept.
Any advise?
