RV trailer w/out owning a truck?
Post Body

Hi we're a 2 car family with no towing capacity. We don't want to purchase a truck, but we really want to buy an RV. Cost wise a towable RV will fit our budget best. My thoughts are to buy an RV and keep it at a park/campground for the summer. This would reduce our need to tow it. Thinking to use a rental truck (home depot? or turo to source the rental) to move it when we need to. Or find a local RV owner to pay when we need it moved and they can use their truck. Thoughts on this? What am I missing or not seeing since I've got zero experience? Thanks!

Sway can happen on any size truck, but to be honest, I don't use a WD hitch on my 3500, but always did when I had a 1500.

I have definitely felt sway with my trailer (32 foot travel trailer). It wasn't lose-control type, but it was a scary few seconds. You have to be aware and know to power out of it or apply the trailer brakes, and not try to slow down. It's not intuitive.

Also, many truck rentals have restrictions on towing, and none will have a weight distribution system. Make sure if you go this route you are aware of any restrictions.
