First game as Two Minis - how does summon targeting work?

So I recently unlocked Two Minis, and I want to make sure I get bear's behavior right: if the summon has an option to focus on two different enemies, which one will it pick?
-Will Elites be focused before non-elites of the same type, assuming the distance is the same?
-If both enemies are elites, will the summon focus the one with the lower standee number?
I looked around and couldn't find a definitive, clear-cut answer to this.
