With the recent changes to society across the DPRK, the government has decided that now is as good a time as ever to increase tourism levels across the nation drastically. Therefore, the DPRK will prepare throughout the coming year to give appropriate facilities time to be completed.

The new tourism campaign has been given the slogan “North Korea, the New Land of Smiles!”

Phase One: 10 months finishing construction

Firstly, the DPRK will require far more living spaces for these tourists and, in particular, rooms that show the true grandeur of North Korea. Therefore, work at the Ryugyong Hotel will be increased dramatically. This project has been off and on since the 1980s, but it still has yet to be completed. However, with the outside being completed in 2011, periodic work has continued on the insides. All of this means that the hotel should not require much remaining work.

For this reason, we will provide a massive construction crew to complete the interiors. We feel this should take more than ten months as only finishing touches and several floors will be required. The completion of this hotel will open up an additional 7,000 rooms for guests to stay at. In addition, the hotel will have access to five restaurants, a casino, several office spaces, and other recreation centers.

Overall the completion of this hotel will drastically increase the DPRK’s capacity to handle foreign tourists in a way where the true power of the state is on full display.

However, our construction efforts will be towards the Ryugyong Hotel and other tourist locations across the DPRK. This construction is mainly to increase their overall capacity in preparation for the massive increase in tourists.

All this construction should take around 10-12 months to complete.

Phase Two: Two Months Training

As the first phase is begun and construction is completed or being constructed, new staff members will be trained in how to provide services such as the following:

• Tour guides
• Maids/house cleaning
• Servers
• Translators

Much of this will be pretty easy and require only a few months of training for individuals to understand how to perform their job to a high degree.

Phase Three: Profit

With these new facilities created and new staff trained, the DPRK will handle large numbers of new tourists. We will aim to reach the following tourist numbers:

1. Chinese tourism: 500,000 individuals

• Chinese tourists have averaged around 200,000 individuals for many years now. For this reason, the DPRK will work with the government of the PRC to guarantee spots for 500,000 Chinese individuals. This will turn the already trendy tourist spot of the DPRK into a far larger one.

1. Western Tourists: 15,000 individuals

• For years now, no more than 5,000 western tourists have been allowed into the nation per year. This has primarily been due to us not having the capacity to take on more with proper supervision and our inability to make our country pleasant for more than a few weeks in a year. However, with so many positive changes to the nation in the past decade, we are ready to expand western tourism to 15,000 individuals a year.

As always, tourists, mainly Western tourists, will be subject to surveillance throughout their entire stay, and phones, laptops, and other electronics will be searched heavily on arrival. Furthermore, video cards will be provided for all major camera brands, where at the end of a day DPRK tourism agents will take these cards and place the files onto a USB. Filming on cellphones will not be permitted, and camera's will be rented out for a mere $2 a day.

All in all, this increased tourist program will generate large amounts of revenue. Already in 2020, the tourist industry brought in an estimated 175 million USD in economic gain. This program, which will vastly increase the number of tourists and their revenues, is evaluated to at least triple this growth, if not more. It will grow so much because not only do foreign guests pay a far larger fee to visit, but they also must pay in USD or Euros.

We hope that other nations of the world will allow their citizens to visit our wonderful country.
