Before we get started here, let me say I will be doing more of these types of posts, explaining why things people say in the game are simply not true. Enjoy :)
Hi! Let me start off by introducing myself. I'm Goo, Reddit username Inception1337. I've had the honor of starting from the clear bottom in CS:GO and progressing. I've heard a lot of myths from Silver I's all the way up to DMG's. This post will be discussing the ever common region myths. Let's get started!
The most common thing I've ever heard is that EU players are better than NA players. While most people think that's true, is it? Surely, you say! Look at the pro players! They never made it out of groups in a major! Case closed! NA sucks, EU wins!!!!!!
Well, no. First off, Cloud9 actually made it out of the group stages back in 2014 at ESL One Cologne. But, let's take a step back. There are a lot of players that don't go pro. They could become NA's super team if they go pro, but, they don't because they don't want to. Other people will say "I've played NA players, and they suck!" Does that mean we all suck? No. That's like saying "I played a pro player once, and he sucked. That means they ALL suck!!!" Unless every NA player and every EU player make teams, we'll never really be able to tell which region is truly better than the other. So, this one has to go down as a "both regions are equally skilled until further evidence is provided," even though that might not really happen. Closing notes on this one: does it matter on which region is better? Just go play Counter-Strike and have fun!
So, the next will be a flip-flop of the last. "NA doesn't have Russians, so it's more fun to play on an NA server!" This one's a lot more easy to explain. First off, we do actually have Russian players. They simply forgot to set their max ping, and got placed over here. Also, depending on what your Matchmaking rank is, there are a lot of trolls that are actually from the NA region. So, think about that the next time you decide that you want to hop on an NA server because you're worried about a group of people from a specific country. Also, that's not really nice to say "ALL RUSSIANS ARE BAD!!!!!!!!" is it?
The final one I'll be addressing is one I've been hearing a lot about. "NA players are all hackers! Nobody is legit!" ... What? If you really think this, I highly urge you to just stop playing Counter-Strike and go outside. I can personally say that I've seen about the same amount of hackers on EU servers as NA servers, and that number isn't all too big!
Winner: all of us! We're a community. Just because somebody has an opinion on any region doesn't mean it's true. There are players from all around the world! If you still want to hold a grudge against a region of players, maybe you shouldn't play the game! If you have to take one thing away from this whole thing, I would say to have fun, no matter what server! You might even make some new friends doing it! :)
Disclaimer: I try to make these types of posts as unbiased as possible. Although I am an NA player, I try my best to keep any opinions out of these posts and post facts you can take away from this!
