A pleasant surprise happened today..

I'm not a great CS player, mainly due to my aim being lousy, but it's something I've gotten better at recently after taking a hiatus from the game to play other things. (My flick is way better than it was before, for some reason)
But today I finally got around to lvling up so I could once again play comp, played one match and immediately got bumped up from Silver 2 to Silver 4, after being stuck at Silver 2 since my initial ranking.
It's nice to make some headway once in a while. :)
