is HNS still a thing in CS2? or should I go back and play source/1.6?

I've been watching an unhealthy amount of HnS content recently. Gamemode looks like a lot of fun, but CS2 server browser just seems broken and hard to find actual lobbies half the time.
I was wondering if HnS still was popular or if I should hop on CSS/GMOD or 1.6 if I want to be in a proper community server?
Was talking with momentum mod devs and they sadly don't plan on adding any combat modes to their game. I just want something to play.
