I was driving home today, and just to pretext my route is usually about 45 minutes, and I take the same route every single day. There's one main road that pretty much takes me the whole way but it does take me through some more country type areas, some have cows and fields of crops along the way. It's usually a pretty busy road, especially when I drive home around 5-6pm.
That being said, I know this route very well, I know where all the little bumps and everything are. And the time I drive home I've never even seen a single deer off the side of the road or anything due to the time of day or traffic sounds. Occasionally there's some cows and horses that live in some fenced in spots but that's about it.
Today I was driving home from work, not even tired as it was a pretty easy day, and continued my usual route. It was raining but nothing else weird happened until I reached about halfway home. I'm going through the normal country setting and I love to look at the cows so I glance to look at what I thought were cows.
Nope, it was a very large herd of Deer. I slowed down a bit because I thought it was out of the ordinary, and that's when I noticed that they were completely still. They weren't laying down or something, they just looked like they were sort of "stuck". Some were mid-step, some heads down, etc. like what the heck??
I realized I'm like drastically slowing down, and as it's usually a very busy road I don't want to get rear-ended or something. I glanced in my rearview and nobody was there, or coming the other direction. I got a super weird and bad feeling, and I just got out of there. After a minute or two traffic appeared again and things felt normal again.
Has anyone else experienced something like à à this? The deer were right next to the road too, so I could see them clearly. They were just in an open field, and had to be a few dozen of them. It had stopped raining by that point, but besides the absence of traffic it didn't look like anything else was "off" but it felt so weird. I pinched myself after I drove off because I felt so weird in that moment.
Let me know what you guys think, I don't think I've everî experienced something like this. Thanks r taking the time to read this, our world can be so weird sometimes!
