So first of all, out of all the GLs Iāve watched (western and asian), Iāve always came across final episodes that had me angry not because it was the last episode but because of what was happening in that episode. Ex: the villain suddenly getting a slap on the wrist/suddenly isnāt homophobic
Recently, In the finales of BLANK & The Secret Of Usāboth of the homophobic characters are suddenly non-homophobic after seeing the girlfriend being head-over-heels for their girlfriend and as much as its a interesting reality most of the time itās just sours the finale for me like I can get what youāre saying but at this point itās such a cliche and we need more GLs without it plus the āhomophobic characterā arc is extremely overused like in every other drama itās there. I might be the only one that feels like this but I guess it comes from how GLs pulls you in the beginning to watch it just to come across the finale thatās sad for the first half and happy in the second so you never see it coming I guess
GLs with homophobic characters that comes around:
*This is based of stuff I watched, learned or knew
š¢South Of Nowhere(USA) - Spencerās Mom š¢BLANK(Thailand) - Anuengās Mother,Father and Grandmother š¢GAP(Thailand) - Khun Samās Grandmother & Kirk* (He isnāt necessarily homophobic but his actions are) š¢The Secret Of Us(Thailand) - Ladaās mother š¢23.5(Thailand) - Ongsaās mom (In the novel, Ongsaās mother is homophobic because the dad is still in contact with his ex-boyfriend but this all got scrapped in the series) š¢DREAM(Thailand) - Marwin (*Heās not completely homophobic like Kirk in GAP but kinda is since he canāt let Wan and Kim be happy until 20 minutes left in the episode)
Again, this is my personal GL gripe but maybe you feel the same! Hopefully the next GL I watch wonāt have homophobic characters that taints finales with hate
