Disney contracts its shows for 65 episodes. The exception to the rule is That's So Raven and Kim Possible. Girl Meets World was able to showcase a lot of issues that tweens, teens, and even adults could relate to. They had so much potential to do more, but I'm not upset at the cancellation (at least not anymore).
It helped wrap up some of the loose ends of its predecessor. Shawn Hunter FINALLY gets a happy ending. I think that more than makes up for its premature end. If the actors and showrunners are still trying to revive this series, I won't object to it. Best of luck.
