Do not hesitate to mute assholes (ESC, Team Voice Chat and Text Chat). Really. I personally mute anyone who refers to me as "gamer girl" or any sort of slur immediately. There is no point in listening to them. It's not worth whatever worthless callout they'll likely not give you anyway. It doesn't matter if you top frag, they'll always find a way to mock you. Games are supposed to be fun and not a setting where you feel like you have to prove yourself. Muting them isn't running away. It's simply letting them stew in their own shittiness and not partaking to what would ultimately be talking to a wall. Their personal issues as to why they're such a bully isn't your problem. Focus on your game play and what you can do.
If you want to get into the competitive scene since that just rolled out, wait until you have a group you know you'll enjoy. People who don't care how you're doing. Everyone is at their own level, learning at their own pace, and have their own goals.
Additionally, report people (Press ESC in game, under MATCH). Who knows if it'll do something but you're contributing to letting the devs know who the abusers are at least in some cosmic way.
I find the game very enjoyable. Admittedly, there are a ton of toxic players in Valorant already. However, in my experience it's not the majority. Like 4 people out of 6 unranked games (30 people overall) I played the other day, that I didn't play with my usual peeps, were rude. Only one was extremely sexist and ignorantly racist. Yeah it's not the ideal setup and in a perfect world you wouldn't have assholes... but alas. Don't let that deter you from what has the potential to be a great game (even though those head hitboxes are huge).
I hope to be hearing more from you fellow ladies in team voice chat!
