I'm what you would call, low income. I really only can get games every once in awhile. It took me forever to get my current gaming PC a few years ago. It took forever for my fiance to get his PS4. I get that games improve, and graphics, but its gotten to a point where the majority of new games require an expensive, high end graphics card now, the ps5 or the xbox series x - things that are very out of reach for us. We end up missing out on things we were looking forward to. The new Dragon Age for example. We both love the franchise, and were excited for the release - until we saw that its restricted to new generation consoles. Even with my PC, I wouldn't be able to play it.
Why cant they release a lower graphic option for us poor folk to enjoy it too? even the Sims has a laptop setting for low end machines. The game itself (the new Dragon Age) was already going to be pushing the limited budget but now its nowhere near possible to play, for either of us. The new InZoi game coming out, impossible for me to play. Most of the stuff we wont be able to play. I know ill just get people saying "well save money!" or "life sucks" but its not always feasible. Something that is easily accessible to others is not accessible to some.
Do you know how long, as a woman Star Wars gamer, I waited for a open world star wars game with a female protagonist? And its unplayable for me.
They are essentially forcing people to upgrade and it really sucks. I know some of you might not understand but I'm hoping some can relate to the frustration of feeling left behind and left out.
I’m a huge Dragon Age fan and I’ve waited ages for the conclusion, so I totally get being devastated that it’s not available for you to play. It was my biggest fear so I relate and sympathize.
But honestly DA4 has extremely reasonable PC requirements. Everyone is dissing the artstyle but those things like overly smooth skin texture are why its minimum requirements are a GTX 1650. Trying to aim for something even lower than that will start to hinder things like map size or combat animations. After a certain point you have to realize that tech can’t cater to the absolute lowest common denominator. A 5 year old low end card is a really reasonable requirement.
I’d recommend checking out LowSpecGamer on YouTube if you’re interested with pushing graphics settings far below the actual minimum for certain games. Or setting your render resolution extremely low if you wanna try playing at 480p.
