I think it sheds a lot of light on the dynamics between the girls and the grandparents, even if they change later.
Lorelai trying to make Emily understand what they want and need, being imo the most emotionally intelligent;
Rory trying to be a good kid to her mum, but being legitimately mad about her school bullies invading her personal space;
Emily being sweet then shutting both of them out, turning herself into the victim during confrontation, then making amends that she'll just undo next episode while still being quite salty in her remarks;
Richard delegating all the mental load, absolving himself of any emotional responsibility by just not engaging much, and handing out money left and right -- and also reading a magazine lol to find out he's an autum lol;
The birth story and the townspeople's anecdotes and dynamics during a non-conflictual moment (compared to let's say all the town meetings).
My family dynamics are very, very similar to some of those, and everytime I rewatch I find it cathartic in differents ways. Today I watched this one and it particularly resonated, would love to hear others' thoughts on it.
PS. Am stoned and English is not my first language so I hope this makes sense
