I wonder why earlier seasons had Rory’s ambitions pointed towards Harvard even for her to (seemingly randomly) select Yale? It was very odd to me.
I know Yale was better for the storyline since it was closer to home, so why not have her interested in it from the start? It is an incredible school, definitely an ambitious goal and it would also make sense for Rory to factor in proximity to Stars Hallow in her decision given her dependence on Lorelei.
It would have made sense to me if Rory getting rejected from Harvard was a plot, but she got accepted into both schools and just decided Yale.
