I’ve started Gilmore Girls many times in the past. I never made it very far. This year I decided I was going to stick with it.
I’m most of the way through S1, and there have been a few different things Dean has done that has set off red flags for me. Currently, I am watching S1E16 “Star-Crossed Lovers and Other Strangers”. It’s Rory and Dean’s 3-month anniversary and he takes her out to dinner. Wonderful, cute, yada-yada.
He then takes her to the junkyard where he has been building her a vehicle. (The cost to rebuild and restore a car from the ground up is far more costly than buying a used car outright, BUT I digress…).
While in the car, he tells her he loves her. Rory is hesitant and doesn’t reciprocate. She attempts to explain that it’s a big deal for her and how, essentially, she’s just not quite ready to say, “I love you” back.
Dean becomes upset, raises his voice, is totally condescending, interrupts her and refuses to continue on with the night, telling her, “Whatever. It doesn’t matter. Let’s go.” before storming off.
I can’t be alone in this thinking, right? He’s total red flag material.
PLEASE no spoilers. Just curious if anyone else felt this way the first time they really sat down to watch GG
