Hello everybody!
I'm a 19-year old man from Lower Saxony (Germany) and I'm requesting a game for the first time here. So, If I'm doing something wrong here or you should have some questions, then just ask me. Doesn't matter, if you do it in the comment section or in DMs. I'm open to any questions. If you should find some grammatical mistakes, then say it. And also I'll try my best to explain some specific or difficult words to you, to make it as understandable as it should be.
So... Let's start with the elephant in the room.
Why can't I buy tERRORbane myself?
At the moment the situation I live in is a bit difficult. I participated in an activity called "BvB". BvB stands for "Berufsvorbereitende Bildungsmaßnahme" and can be compared to a "Vocational training course" I guess. Basically you go for a full year in a few working areas and try to find out, what kind of job suits the best for you. I've tried programming, cooking, working in a metal workshop and getting trained in an office. I liked the Office job the most. I learned some stuff in Word and Excel. I needed to manage phone calls, which was difficult for me. At least at the beginning. After some weeks it worked better.
Anyways... I have done that for a year and got in this time some money. It wasn't much money, but it was enough to live away from my parents. Well... This year has ended since a few weeks and I'm living with my mother now and don't have much money left.
Also I'm in a wait list for the next activity called "PJR - Psychologische Jugend-Reha", which focuses more on the psyche kind of things. Because I noticed that my mood would go down and down during the BvB and I would have problems getting into a healthy life balance back. I often got suicidal thoughts and thoughts of hurting myself and I think it would be better to focus more on that.
Because even if I were to start an apprenticeship now, it wouldn't do much if I fell into such a depression again and then really did something to myself. (Also I know it's a bit off-topic, but during the BvB I got diagnosed with Depression and Social Phobia / Social Anxiety.)
What is tERRORbane about?
First of all: I played the Demo and it was fun. So... tERRORbane is the name of a hero, which needs to save the world from some bad guys in a turn-based action rpg.
At the start of the game you get greeted by a blue screen and the developer himself, wondering why the code doesn't always does what it should do. Then the developer notices you and tells you about this "handcrafted masterpiece" and giving you a Bug list, in case you should find some bugs. But to him it's impossible you would find some bugs, glitches or anything similar than that.
Then he reboots the game and we get to decide if we want to skip the scroll, which explains in some fancy pixel art the story. But to the be fair, the story is quite long and the scroll isn't really fast and I skipped to the Title Screen, which made the developer furious. He spent six mounths making the graphics, the music, basically everything the scroll, tried to tell us and we just skipped it. Because... Impatient and stuff. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2850685537
During his rage he corrupts the pixel art by mistake, but also without realizing that. Then he forces us to watch the entire scroll again and slowly realized, he needs to ask questions, to test the players patience and if the player even pays attention. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2850685323
You can also just skip the scroll again and corrupt it even more. If you should do that, the developer thinks, it has to be something personal and forces you to watch the entire scroll again. But now the art, the sprites and even the text gets corrupted. The scroll is now even so corrupted, that it doesn't go up by itself. You now have to press several Keys to make it go up.
And during this Scroll-chapter, if you can call it that, you can decide, which path you want to take:
- How about making the developer angry just to see him rage and losing his shit? (I did that and it was funny)
- Maybe answering the developers question with the wrong answers?
- How about saying the right answers?
- What happens, if you click on the answer with the flipped text?
- What happens, if you say, you're a developer, instead of a player?
- And what happens if you answer with "SissyMcPie"? (No, like seriously, you can do that.)
After finishing the scroll, the developer let's you select your name. The Dev asks you if you really want to be called like that and has different reactions caused by your chosen name. For example the Dev asks you, if you are twelve, when you name yourself "ASS". https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2850642852
The Game does a lot of 4th wall breaks, which I really like. Some games I like, do that. For example Stanley Parable, THE CORRIDOR, The Hex and Do not buy this Game DEMO.
I could also tell a lot more about the story or give more details about 4th wall breaking in The Hex, THE CORRIDOR and more, but I think I'm telling a bit too much and don't want to spoil every surprise.
Anyways... In tERRORbane you...
- try to collect Bugs, to use them to your advantage. For example to solve an unsolveable puzzle.
- try not to get hindered too much by bugs. For example by UI Elements falling over, Error pop-ups, certain areas having no collision and so on.
- can also be the ERROR and try to break the game in most destructible way.
- can fight monsters and other dangerous creatures with turn based attacks.
- can listen to some interesting and cool music.
