Metroidvania. This is a genre that I love and probably my favorite 2D game genre ever. The exploration is the main draw, the world is the main attraction but it ain’t truly a Metroidvania without character progression.
Hollow Knight has bugs and those bugs are adorable, it’s also a Metroidvania and a critically acclaimed one.
Hollow Knight has bugs and the main bug explores the world and becomes stronger.
This is truly a Metroidvania I’ll enjoy.
