Hello, GoG, i would like to request Romancing Saga 3 today.
First of all: Who am i?
Hi, i'm Phillippus, a redditor from South America, a huge jrpg and turn-based combat fan and member of GoG for quite some time. I've only made 3 request so far, but have actually grabbed quite a few games through offers and i have played and enjoyed every one of them (With the exception of a VR game that i won in a random key offer and i'm unable to play since i dont have a VR device). I usually enter offers for rpgs, metroidvanias and strategy games, because that's the types of games i enjoy the most and you can be absolute sure that i only go for games that i will play. Why does this matter tho? Well... I'm just trying to tell anyone that reads these that i'm not into giveaway subs just for the random free shit, i'm usually joining offers for games that i ACTUALLY WANT. But why not just buy them? Why cant i afford them? The games here in my country are much more expensive and a lot of publishers are not generous with regional pricing ( The game i'm requesting is 99,00 in my currency without the 20% discount), that combined with the fact that i earn very little, makes it impossible for me to buy a lot of games. More than half of the games that i own on steam are free codes you get from humble bundle and such, one third is probably the ones i got from here or some other sub and the remaining are games that i have bought on sale (I quite literally have never bought a game at full price, i just cant afford it).
I'm not trying to make anyone feel sorry for me or anything, i'm just being honest on the reason why i'm here today.
Second: Why this game in particular?
Romancing Saga 3 is an old Snes game that was just recently realeased on steam and is part of what is known as the "SaGa" series with games like the Romancing Saga games, SaGa Frontier, Last Remnant and even the more recent Octopath Traveler. All these games are extremely unique and niche in the way that they have very open gameplay, non-linear progress and little to no hand holding, not to mention extremely challenging. Romancing Saga 3, gameplay-wise is probably my favorite in the whole series, despite the fact that i have never played it in english. The game lets you choose one out of several main characters and depending of who you choose, the quests you can do and the characters that you can recruit change, not to mention the obvious difference in the story, wich gives the game A LOT of replayiability. One of the most important things about the game, however, is how there are no levels and you get stronger by using you magic, weapons or skills, but the enemies also get stronger with you, so grinding too much too early might actually make the game harder.
I used to rent this game some 18 to 19 years ago, and despite not understanding shit about the story, i actually replayed it dozens and dozens of times because of the gameplay alone, so i would really like to experience it again, but this time in English.
Thanks a lot for taking your time to read this.
