About civ

Gathering Storm is the second expansion to Civilization VI and is releasing next week on February 14th. It adds a bunch of new civilizations, technologies, civics and features such as environmental effects, among others. This expansion is important because Civilization games tend to improve a lot for every expansion released. Civilization V was a pretty bad game when released but as expansions were added it become one of the most popular games on Steam, and still is. Civilization VI has already had one expansion added which was awesome so I can't wait for this one!

Although the expansion is not released yet, Firaxis (the developer) has released a bunch of mini-videos where they introduce the new leaders, mechanics and so on. Channels on Youtube have also started posting their let's plays of the game which gives us an insight into how it will look. So even tho it would be a pre-order we've already gotten good looks on all the great stuff it has to offer.

Why I love this game

I have played Civilization V for 480 hours and Civilization VI for 222 hours. I really enjoy strategy games in general but you could say I have a special place in my heart for this series. One reason why I love it is because of the replayability. There is a ton of civilizations you can play as and each leader brings something new to the table. Unique units, buildings and other cool traits that benefits the civilization in some unique way. This expansion also adds Sweden, my home country, to the game. I'm ridiculously happy about it and it will definitely be the first civ I play as! Mark my words. :D Also, you can achieve victory in five (!) ways. This expansion adds diplomacy as a victory type, bringing that number up to six. There is always something new to do.

Final words

I am not in a position to buy this game due to budget constraints (I'm a student). It would be awesome to play this game when time is available (usually on the weekends) so I can properly de-stress. I have been looking forward to this expansion since it was released and have watched every mini-video released on the /r/civ subreddit and I'm currently watching a Let's Play by youtuber Quill18. From what I have seen so far there is so many new things to see and learn, not to mention what they have changed.

I would be so happy to receive this expansion! Even if you are not in a position to gift, or is just reading for entertainment, I thank you for giving me your time.
