Gathering Storm is the second expansion to Civilization VI and is releasing in just under 2 weeks on February 14th. It adds a bunch of new civilizations (including Sweden, woo!), technologies, civics and features such as environmental effects, among others. This expansion is important because Civilization games tend to improve a lot for every expansion released. When the game first was released it received some heavy criticism and although I played it a decent amount I wasn't completely convinced. When the first expansion was released the game improved a lot and I found myself enjoying it again. I am confident this second expansion will have the same effect.

Although the expansion is not released yet, Firaxis (the developer) has released a bunch of mini-videos where they introduce the new leaders, mechanics and so on. Channels on Youtube have also started posting their let's plays of the game which gives us an insight into how it will look. So far I'm impressed.

As for me and Civ.. I have played Civilization V for 480 hours and Civilization VI for 222 hours. I really enjoy strategy games in general but you could say I have a special place in my heart for this series. One reason why I love it is because of the replayability. There is a ton of civilizations you can play as and you can achieve victory in five (!) ways. This expansion adds diplomacy as a victory type, bringing that number up to six. There is always something new to do.

I am not in a position to buy this game due to budget constraints (I'm a student). I would probably be able to get the game in a few months, but I'd really like to play it as soon as possible. I'm currently in a period where I'm constantly stressed due to the work load so it would be awesome to play this game when time is available (usually on the weekends).

To end this I just want to say that I would be very happy and grateful for receiving this expansion. Even if you are not in a position to gift, or is just reading for entertainment, I thank you for giving me your time.
