So if you've been stalking my reddit you would know that I made the same request 3 months ago.
I'm here to try again because of the sale currently at GMG
After looking into Final Fantasy XV I'm surprised that it wasn't as well received and often criticized for it's unfinished feeling and lack of character. Regardless my opinions of it haven't changed. I still adore the combat system, the music, and the constant exploration an comradery and character growth in the story.
Heck I love every Final Fantasy. Each one always brings something new (at the time to the table). Even XIII while being the low point for me, I adore the environment and music put into it, but one of the things that get me the most is the super boss fights. Final Fantasy after the third one always added superbosses that relate back to the story for you to dive into. A sort of "but wait, there's more", and they often do it in a fashion that these characters add to the lore building of the world.
Ala example, Shinryu and Omega Weapon from V (and subsequently dissidia), weapons from VII, Yizamat from XII and let's not forget Gilgamesh outside of V.
I do have one gripe about RPG though... and it's usually the combat system and grinding. After a while it becomes mediocre or even tedious... simply fluff to distract and extend your play time and commitment. Final Fantasy usually does a good job at reinventing the system and their bosses usually have an unique twist to them but regardless... grinding is the bane of my existence. I rather hear conversation, see cutscenes and conflict, listen to the music and feel the environment, or read one of the many lores, scripts and books in game that expands the world's history. But with Final Fantasy XV the combat looks fresh and innovative. It reminds me of a mix between XII and XIII. But the most important part, it's one of those games that constantly dives into every character as oppose to they joined your party, now they are a silent ally for the rest of the game type of situation. The game feels very alive and each step and minute seems to breath life into the world and how it's civilization, ecosystem and even politics function.
In short I think it takes the best aspects of FFIV character quests, the environment of FFVI FFVII and FFXIII, and the combat system of FFXII and FFXIII.
Btw for those curious my favorite FF is IV (because of post game content and all that. VII would be up there with it's sequels, prequels and everything but I was never really surprised at every turn and after Midgar disk the game got a little bit slow)
I really do want to get this game for myself and start paying forward even more gifting to the lovely people of this reddit, but the flash sale is only for 24 hours and I've only recently started my new job (and saving for that expensive education). Once again, it would be nice to get it for this price but I have no doubt in the future it'll probably be 50% again in the future as Square Enix never discounts their FF series beyond 50%.
Thanks for reading my posts and all.
