Yo, GoG. This is my request for Battlefield 1! This is the first FPS game Iv'e set my eyes on probably since Call of Duty Black Ops 1. I missed the genre to be honest, and this dramatic interesting title looks like a great one to play. I will split the request into the usual chunks;
What is this game?
All of you and your grandparents ( Literally? ) probably know what Battlefield One is, but I feel like this is an essential part of my requests. This game takes a break from all the chaotic yet mostly monotonic present-future shooters that launched in the last few years ( Call Of Duty Black Ops 2-3, Ghosts, Infinite warfare, and the Battlefields, 3 and 4 ), and switched it into a chaotic, World War 1 alternative history FPS. The alternative history part is most interesting - while bloody and claimer of many lives, WW1 was no where as near full of Michael Bay action-y as the game that tries to portray it as. Tanks are very common in Battlefield 1, along with assault planes, knights with machine guns, war pigeons, shovel warfare and more. Tanks in WW1 were not as common and were real pant-shitters when seen on the battlefields, war pigeons did take an important role, ironclad machine-gunners were indeed a ( very very tiny ) part of the "modern war confusion" - WW1 had this problem; people and countries didn't really know how to run modern wars - do we let soldiers march against each other like the old time wars, or barricade them and trench them? Do we dress them as knights or with fancy shit? trenching was a big part of the European front, and was one of the reasons for so many deaths and slow progress, along with sickness and diseases. Enough history for now - I didn't want to dig into the BF1 story too much, but some multiplayer features sound pretty sick. There's the pigeon mail service mode - that you have to send a pigeon to win the round while the enemy tries to shoot it ( or you ) down. There is the Operation mode - massive teamwork, pushing the front line, conquering objectives and even going through maps t win. There's Rush mode, to defend or attack certain objective to postpone the end or defeat. Then there are the regular conquest and domination modes, which I like very much as it is.
Why do I want it?
First fresh FPS I want to play in years. Dated, quality in both graphics, sound and story according to many sources, refreshing and interesting. I was looking for a long time for a game that brings an "immersive" experience ( horror or war, screams, despair and more ), and many of those modern titles feature war heroes that kinda go "oh well he died lets go", on scenes and battles that have victory by the balls in advantage, superhumans for soldiers and no ideology or motive to kill other than "kill kill kill". The snippets of single player gameplay from the trailers show humanity, a story of friendship, human crisis, moments of empathy and shock. I love me a human storyline, the last one being WaW, and some of the MW2-3, the bond between dishSoap and Captain Price. I love semi automatic rifles, and obviously WW1 is FULL OF IT. I Have seen videos and gifs of gun operation, and it is just gun porn. There's mortar play which sounds very fun, and of course, as in tradition, BF titles offer a variety of vehicles, this time - horses, WW1 era tanks, war planes the usual jeep and even a damn train! It features many beautiful locations, lush forests along with dry deserts, just as good looking as EA can make them ( looking at battlefront too ). I am a really big fan of single player campaigns. I really enjoyed most the Battlefield and Call Of Duty campaigns, except CoD Ghosts that was as cheesy as they get. Although CoD titles always had a "beefier" SP story, BF1 might beat it this time around. And with better graphics, sound, story, immersion, gun play and MP maps, this game might take the cake. I've heard many praise about the game, from the GoG community as well.
Why can't I get it?
I don't like that part but feel it's kinda essential. I'm a soldier in a mandatory army service country; the pay is shit and the "days off" rate is shit. I get around 200$ a month, most of go to buying essentials ( food and such ) and using my few off-weekends to meet up with friends, watch a movie, eat out and break the dreadful monotony of a non rifleman army service. 60$ is a terrible chunk of my pay. With the GoG Secret Santa coming up I want to save aside some money to be able to give my giftee a good time ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). That's all pretty much.
Extra stuff
A nice "hardcore" gameplay video that kinda sold me. Listen to the sounds. Notice the smallest details.
