This is freaking hysterical. All weekend long, I had been contemplating how I could be a sneaky Secret Santa. I discuss my options with /u/acenair836 and finally went with the point blank approach. You can see the results here.

Meanwhile, /u/JpsCrazy gifts me a game and says he's a messenger for my Secret Santa, who wishes to remain anonymous. Later, we chat about the game and he said not to worry, that my Secret Santa had big things in store. I think to myself, OK. He then proceeds to gift me six games over the following two days, culminating with Axiom Verge, and a note, "It was me!"

You sneaky ****. I'm glad it was you though. We have similar tastes and knowledge in games, so I'd be surprised if anyone could've done as good a job as you did.

Well, here are the games and my remarks on each game:

Game Remark Progress
Oniken A loving homage to the NES platforming era in every way. Pixel art harkening back to Ninja Gaiden, run & gun & grapple gameplay a la Contra, and brutal difficulty to match. All with cut scenes and music to match. If I feel like giving myself an ulcer, I'll eventually try to beat it. 3 hours and I know I'm screwed.
Punch Club This boxing, RPG, resource management game is one of the strangest amalgamations of any game that I've played in awhile. Boxing... RPG. W.T.F. And it's great. Great pixel art, fitting music, and a really good story. In fact, the entire game is actually built on overlapping movie references, which was friggin' awesome! I stayed up all night and beat it in one sitting. Beaten in 9 hours straight
Dust Dean Dodrill is the stupidly talented brainchild behind Dust: An Elysian Tail. You have to play this game and constantly remind yourself that it was created by one person. It's so impressive. It has really dynamic combat with a rewarding combo system, voice acting, animated characters (legitimate anime characters), villages, portals, crafting, blueprints, extra abilities, secrets. Awesome. I'm gonna take my time with this one and 100% it
Crawl Pixel multiplayer game with one of the most original premises to come around in awhile. It's a dungeon delver a la Gauntlet but with a twist. Your first act is to establish dominance and kill your teammates. Then they spend the rest of the game possessing enemies and trying to kill you. Incredible monster design, evolution system. Best boss design I've seen in awhile. I want to see everything this game has to offer.
Particle Mace This was an arcade hit that released over a year ago. It's geometry wars meets asteroids, except without weapons. In lieu of a gun, you get particles that you can swing at your enemies (hence mace). Amazing music, and really great arcade gameplay. Unlocked every ship and beat all 150 missions in one sitting.
Axiom Verge Arguably one of the purest metroidvania's of the last ten years. I've followed Tom Happ for YEARS while he made this game and everything in it. All of it. Stardew Valley is to Harvest Moon/Rune Factory as Axiom Verge is to Metroid. Amazing pixel art. Great soundtrack. Funky weapons, cool abilities, and rewarding exploration. It's fucking Metroid. Everything will die. Everything will be discovered.
